Cape Otway has been part of The Geelong College experience for more than two decades, with our dedicated campus established in 2015.
It is here that students step away from the structure of the school day to build independence, strengthen relationships and grow in confidence. As Principal, Simon Young often reminds our students, the simple things matter most: showing up, connecting with others and making the most of each opportunity.
Some of the most meaningful moments at Otway happen at day’s end, when students come together to reflect, share and connect. These are the moments students remember. The conversations that build friendships. The quiet reflections that build confidence. The shared experiences that shape how they see themselves and others.
Right now, those moments happen informally. This project will create a dedicated space designed to support them.
Through renewed decking, considered landscaping and a central firepit, it will form a natural gathering place within the landscape. A space that invites students to pause, to listen, to contribute and to belong.
Designed to sit comfortably within its coastal setting, the space will use durable, sustainable materials and support the continued development of the campus. It will also allow staff to more intentionally structure reflection and connection into the Otway experience.
Students will benefit from a space that is:
This is a simple project, but a significant one. It strengthens a part of the experience that already matters deeply to our students.
We are seeking to raise $50,000 to bring this project to life.
