Scholarships for entry into 2025 are now open!

We welcome scholarship applications from students who will make the most of the opportunities offered at The Geelong College, and who can make a positive contribution to our community. Below is detailed information regarding our available scholarships for entry into 2025. Students are encouraged to apply for multiple categories should they meet the criteria.

Scholarships for 2025 entry will continue to be highly competitive. We appreciate there will be many worthy scholarship applicants who need assistance to be able to consider a Geelong College education. We encourage you to apply, and we look forward to considering each application.

Students from regional areas are encouraged to apply for scholarships in addition to boarding (i.e. academic, music, special interest etc).

Scholarships are for Australian citizens only.

All Academic, Music and Special Interest scholarship applicants, with the exception of current students applying for the Howard Hitchcock Visual Art Scholarship, must sit an academic test which will be held on Saturday 18 November 2023. When registering with Edutest you will be asked if you would like to be considered for Academic, Music or Visual Arts scholarships, please consider these choices.

Boarding Scholarship applications are direct to the school, shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview and to sit the academic test.

All applicants will need to provide supporting documents listed in the details section for their application to be considered.

Pegasus Scholarships (Years 9, 10 and 11)

Pegasus Scholarships are open to students who display outstanding skill and commitment in one or more co-curricular areas. Applicants should demonstrate excellence and commitment to their chosen activity, the desire to embrace the opportunities offered by the College and a good academic standard. Applications for entry into 2025 will open in April 2024. The process will include a written application, from which shortlisted students will attend an interview.

Indigenous Scholarships

Indigenous Scholarships are run by the Smith Family and close in late May each year for entry into the following year. You can find more information here.

Application Process
  • Select which scholarship or scholarships you would like to be considered for.
  • Register as directed.
  • You will receive a confirmation of your application following registration and be contacted after registrations close with regard to the scholarship test, auditions and any other requirements.
Please note
  • Edutest Applications close on Friday 10 November 2023.
  • Boarding Scholarship applications close on Friday 27 October 2023.
  • All scholarship applicants, with the exception of current students applying for the Howard Hitchcock Visual Arts Scholarship, must sit an academic test which will be held on Saturday 18 November 2023.
  • Only one Edutest registration is required. You will be asked if you would like to be considered for boarding, music etc. within the Edutest form and considered for all appropriate scholarships.
  • Howard Hitchcock Visual Arts Scholarship for new students requires both an Edutest and a direct to College application.
  • Boarding Scholarships only require a direct to College application. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an interview and to sit the academic test.
  • The test will be held at our Senior School campus, Talbot St Newtown.
  • Music applicants will be contacted regarding auditions.
  • Anyone needing to sit the test from an overseas location must contact Edutest asap to arrange an appropriate time to sit the test.

Practice tests

Practice tests are available from Edutest here. These tests cover Verbal Reasoning, Numerical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and Mathematics and are suitable for students from Year 6 to Year 10 (current Year Level). The scholarship exams also include a Written Expression component which is not replicated in the practice tests.

Academic Scholarships (Years 7, 9, 10 and 11) – applications close on Friday 10 November at 5pm

Academic Scholarships are open to students who need financial assistance to attend the College. Applicants should be of an outstanding academic standard. They will be required to participate fully in the life of the College and should have the desire to embrace the opportunities offered by the College. Applications for entry into 2025 will open in late-August 2023. The process will include the academic exam, from which shortlisted students will be invited to tour the school. Only families who have attended the school tour will be invited for an interview. Please note the eligibility, criteria and details fields particularly to ensure you answer the questions on the application form correctly. Only one Edutest application is required to be considered for all scholarships your child is eligible for.

Howard Hitchcock Design and Creative Arts Scholarship

The Howard Hitchcock Design and Creative Arts Scholarship offers a Term’s fees remission for two years to a promising visual artist or designer. All applicants are required to submit a folio (of no more than 10 works) which will be assessed against the following criteria:

  • Demonstration of a range of appropriate trialling and development of potential ideas in an artistic medium. Ample evidence of the applicant’s ability to think on a broad and innovative basis.
  • Use of imagination as evidenced in the folio of work. There should be signs of innovative exploration of ideas.
  • Level of skill that is displayed in the folio of work. Evidence of fine motor skills in one or more mediums.
  • Evidence of personal art responses, concepts and/or observations. Depth of interest within the subject as evidenced in the folio of work.

In addition, students will be asked to:

  • Write a short essay of 500 words. The question will be – Discuss the ways in which your interest in the Design and Creative Arts has developed over recent years.
  • Write a short statement of their future intentions in relation to Design and Creative Arts.

Your folio and written submissions must be uploaded to the entry system by 5pm on Friday 10 November.
