Scholarships and bursaries are central to The Geelong College. They ensure that students with the ability and potential to benefit from a College education can access it, regardless of financial circumstance.

Through scholarships, students fully participate in the academic, co-curricular and leadership opportunities that define the College experience.

“I am thrilled to be a part of Dr Bill Williams’ wonderful legacy. Reflecting on my time at the College, I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn in this community and to contribute through music, badminton and debating. The memories I have made here will, no doubt, shape my future.”
Harriet Wright, Year 12, Dr Bill Williams Scholar.

“Receiving a Pegasus Scholarship enabled me to join this community, one where I feel I truly belong. I have loved representing College in football and cricket, making new friends and preparing for future studies and a career. Thank you to those who made this possible for me.”
Tamar Holt, Year 12, Pegasus Scholar.

Scholarships open the door. They ensure that ability and potential, not circumstance, determine access.

Through the Scholarship Endowment Fund, this support is sustained over time, creating opportunity for students now and into the future. Donors can choose to which scholarship they would prefer to direct their gift.

This year we are seeking to raise $150,000 to grow the Scholarship Endowment Fund.

Scholarships at The Geelong College are designed to ensure that ability and potential, not circumstance, determine access.

Many of our scholarships are supported through the Scholarship Endowment Fund, where gifts are invested and preserved, with a portion distributed each year to provide ongoing support for students. This approach creates a lasting source of funding, benefiting students now and into the future.

Gifts to scholarship funds are tax deductible, making it a practical and enduring way to support access to a Geelong College education.

Pegasus Scholarships

Annual Giving Scholarships 1

Pegasus Scholarships at The Geelong College are designed for high-performing student-athletes who are ready to contribute, lead and grow and would otherwise be unable to attend the College. These scholarships support students entering Years 9 to 11, providing access to an exceptional education alongside one of the most competitive school sporting programs in Victoria.

Dr Bill Williams Tjungurrayi Scholarship

Annual Giving Scholarships 2

The Dr Bill Williams Tjungurrayi Scholarship Fund was established in May 2018 to support Indigenous students attending The Geelong College. The scholarships are to be supported by an endowment fund, to exist in perpetuity.

Dr Bill Williams completed Year 12 at The Geelong College in 1975 and went on to train as a doctor. Always a man of principle and conviction, Bill became a social activist, particularly involved in the campaign against nuclear weapons. He was also involved in environmental and feminist issues and was a staunch advocate for Indigenous people for much of his life.

Boarding Scholarships

Boarding Scholarships

Boarding is integral to the fabric of the College and brings diversity to our learning community. Boarding Scholarships help rural and regional families who would otherwise be unable to access a College education for their children.

The Morongo Scholarship

Morongo Scholarship.JPG

Following its closure, the surplus assets of Morongo Girls’ College Ltd were placed in trust. An agreement dated 31 January 1998, approved by the Uniting Church in Australia, established that these funds would be used to generate income for scholarships supporting female students at The Geelong College—thus ensuring that the spirit and legacy of Morongo would live on in a new chapter.

First awarded in 1999, the Morongo Scholarship offers a unique opportunity for a female student of outstanding academic ability to attend The Geelong College. It is open to girls seeking entry from Year 7 to Year 12, and provides the value of three terms’ tuition fees, tenable for up to six years. The scholarship is awarded every six years or when the recipient graduates, maintaining its prestige and selective nature, with recipients chosen at the discretion of the Principal.
Through this scholarship, the legacy of Morongo continues—not just in name, but in the lives and achievements of the young women it supports.

We invite you to help us secure the future of this important scholarship. Your gift to the Morongo Scholarship Fund will give the opportunity of a liberal education to a young woman who would otherwise be unable to attend The Geelong College, and will honour the enduring values of Morongo Presbyterian Girls’ College and its former students.

The Thappy Quick Scholarship

Thappy Quick Scholarship

Named in honour of Ross ‘Thappy’ Quick. This fund was established by the 1958 – 63 Football teams in 2024 and is slowly building.

Thappy Quick was the ‘architect’ of the 1963 APS Football premiership and the First XVIII coach from 1958 to 1963, coaching three APS Grand Final appearances. He not only taught football, but the incalculable value of teamwork, the virtue of sportsmanship and that discipline and obedience were essential in a successful team.

His players were very grateful for the lessons they learned and the thrill of winning an APS Premiership, which is something truly special.

The purpose of the scholarship is to offer fee remission for an outstanding team player with a talent for football as a reminder of the Ross ‘Thappy’ Quick legacy.
