Congratulations to the Class of 2025

The Geelong College is proud to celebrate the outstanding VCE achievements of the Class of 2025.

Principal Simon Young congratulated the cohort, recognising their dedication and the energy they brought to College life.

“We are enormously proud of all our students. Today we celebrate our highest achievers, and we also acknowledge every student who worked hard to complete their VCE. This group impressed not only through their commitment to study, but through the way they embraced opportunities and contributed across the College. Our top VCE students were also our leaders — on stage, on the fields and on the courts each weekend. Their busy schedules taught them routine and how to use their time well, skills that served them well for their studies and will continue to do so long after school.”

Dux of the College, Joseph Afford (99.8), said he was “happily surprised” when he opened his results. “Good preparation, lots of practice exams and knowing I could ask teachers for help were all important. Some friendly competition with my friends and staying busy with tennis and other things helped keep me productive.” Joseph plans to study engineering, likely at Monash University.

Proxime Accessit, Cate Robson (99.35), received her results while on a morning walk with her twin sister Sophie (99.3). “Sophie saw her ATAR first, so I knew that’s what I had to beat,” Cate said. “We ended up so close. I would have liked to get the same, but with the same subjects it was almost impossible.”
Sophie added, “I just wanted to get over 99. I had a really good support network — my parents, my teachers and my friends were there for me no matter what.” Cate agreed: “I couldn’t have done it without Soph — the competition between us was a big driver.” Both aim to study Medicine at Monash University in 2026.
