Pegasus Scholarships at The Geelong College are designed for high-performing student-athletes who are ready to contribute, lead and grow. These scholarships support students entering Years 9 to 11, providing access to an exceptional education alongside one of the most competitive school sporting programs in Victoria.

Why a Pegasus Scholarship?

At The Geelong College, sport is part of a broader journey. Through our APS program, expert coaching and outstanding facilities, students are supported to develop as athletes and as people.

Pegasus Scholars are expected to:

  • demonstrate leadership in their chosen sport
  • commit to the full life of the College
  • pursue academic growth alongside athletic performance
  • contribute positively to our community

In return, they join an environment where learning, character and community come together.


Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet all of the following:

  • Be an Australian citizen
  • Be a new student to The Geelong College
  • Be entering Years 9, 10 or 11 in the year of entry
  • Not be attending a similar school (another APS school or equivalent)
  • Require financial assistance to attend the College

Selection criteria

Scholarships are awarded based on a holistic assessment of each applicant. Students will demonstrate:

  • Good academic achievement
  • Outstanding sporting ability, including participation in a representative pathway, or at state or national level (or equivalent)
  • A genuine passion for the opportunities offered at The Geelong College
  • A commitment to contributing to the life of the College

Sporting commitment

Students awarded a Pegasus Scholarship are expected to:

  • Compete in their chosen sport
  • Participate in two additional sporting seasons each year

The College competes in the APS across three seasons:

Summer
Badminton, Cricket, Futsal, Diving, Rowing, Volleyball, Swimming, Tennis

Winter
Basketball, Football, Hockey, Netball, Soccer, Cross Country

Spring
Athletics, Water Polo


Fee Remission

Scholarships provide fee remission at the discretion of the Principal. Each award reflects the individual circumstances of the applicant and their potential contribution to the College.


Application timeline

Applications open: Wednesday 1 April
Applications close: Friday 26 June

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview and attend a school tour. Outcomes are communicated in August.
